The flamingo was not planned. Looking at the canvas I felt pulled to paint a flamingo which I had never done. After painting it a friend said have you heard of the flamingo analogy with motherhood? Of course, I looked into.
To the mama that feels mentally exhausted, remember this:
Flamingos lose their pink color while raising their young. raising their chicks is so intense and draining, that it literally drains them from their color.
As their chicks grow and become more independent, their color returns.
Whenever you feel lost in motherhood, remind yourself that your color will come back…and it will be brighter than before.
This is the meaning behind this piece. You obviously don’t need to me a mama to feel connected or purchase it. However, I wanted to share the behind the scenes of the piece with you.
